There’s that first week in the Fall where it is so cold, you start saying it’s Winter. I do this every year, and my husband always says, “Actually, it’s still Fall until December 21.” Okay, so I know this in theory, but if it’s cold enough to snow…I’m going to call it Winter! You start to smell people lighting their fireplaces. You begin wearing fuzzy socks around the house, wrapping up in warm cozy blankets on the couch, and start searching the garage for your ice scraper.
Saturday was one of these Fall days. I met up with Louise, Dan, and their little blonde cutie Jacob. Louise found me through our mutual friends Liss and Heidi, who I photographed earlier this Fall. We decided to meet early Saturday morning at the Wooden Playground in Glen Mills, PA. It was a little rough waking up at 5:30am, but it was completely worth it when we arrived at the playground and found we had it all to ourselves. Did I mention it was cold? Well it was COLD! And The Bierig-Krachuks toughed it out for our two hour session. They arrived with bags of toys, a thermos of hot chocolate, some books, and a little pair of dry pants…which came in handy when Jacob slid down the cold, wet slide. I hope you enjoy this family as much as I did.

The other plus to meeting this early is getting a spectacular sunrise! This was Jacob’s first sunrise, since it was the earliest he’s ever been up. Hopefully it was a one time thing and I didn’t inspire him to start waking up before the sun.

It was really cold…I don’t think I told you that yet. While Jacob isn’t a fan of mittens, he soon realized how much better it felt than numb fingers. I love this picture of him getting warm.

And I LOVE this shot.

Dan started running Jacob around playing airplane. Jacob absolutely loved flying around the playground with Dad.

Then we had a break with Mom for some Little Blue Truck action. I like this story more every time I hear it. I think Jacob liked it too.
